Christmas Tidings 2010: Candlelight Tours, a Visit from Père Noël, and Much More!

Discover the roots of many holiday traditions at the French Legation Museum! Mid-19th Century French practices and American Victorian decoration will be displayed all December long at the French Legation Museum in Historic East Austin. Tours are available daily, Tuesday through Sunday, from 1:00 – 5:00pm. Admission prices are just $5.00 for adults, $3.00 for seniors (62+), and $2.00 for students and teachers. Special group tours can be arranged!

Père Noël Visits the Legation!
Saturday, December 4, 2010 9:30 am – 12:30 pm

Kids will be sure to enjoy the personal attention of Père Noël (the traditional French “Santa”). This free event is a great way to kick off the Holiday Season. Professional photography will be available for purchase from SMB Photography, please no amateur photography. Discounts available for military families with soldiers oversees. Packages starting at $29.99.

Come enjoy an evening of family fun and music at the French Legation Museum. This year’s Christmas Tidings Program will include warm refreshments, candlelight tours of the museum, live music from community choirs, children’s activities, and community fellowship. This event is free to the public! Come celebrate community and the true meaning of the season at the French Legation Museum.

Fall Fromage Fest - Nov. 10, 2010

Love cheese? Love wine? Love Texas?

If you answered yes to any of the above questions, please join us at The French Legation Museum Wednesday November 10th from 5:30 pm – 7:00 pm for a one-of-a-kind event celebrating fall and fabulous history with incredible Austin cheese creations and French wine. Don’t miss the fabulous creations of Austin’s Indulge Cheese - unique and absolutely delicious Fromage masterpieces – paired with the gift of wine from our special friend Franc Petit, of France, from the 13th century vineyard Domaine de l'Abbaye , located in Villefranche-sur-mer, France.

This free event honors our visitors from France, and celebrates the preservation project currently underway currently underway at the oldest home in Austin. The French Legation Museum, a non-profit historic house museum, is the oldest wood-frame structure in Austin and a Texas State Archeological Landmark. Built to serve as the diplomatic outpost for King Louis Philippe of France to the Republic of Texas, the legendary open-to-the-public museum has a rich, storied history, and is currently under the custodianship of The Daughters of The Republic of Texas.The French Legation is located at 802 San Marcos Street, Austin, Texas.
