Christmas Shopping at FLM

Christmas is just one week away!

The French Legation Museum Store still has beautiful holiday merchandise available. Stock is running low, so be sure to stop by this weekend before your favorite items are sold out.

This year's great holiday merchandise includes reproduction Christmas tree decorations (similar to the great mid-Victorian tree decorations displayed in the French Legation's historic home), Texana decor, old-fashioned Santa ornaments and tin signs, and great stocking stuffers for the whole family.

Don't forget to check out our huge holiday/end-of-year clearance shelves with books, clothing, home decor, and $1.00 Bargain Bin!

We still have 1998 - 2009Texas Capitol Ornaments in stock as well. These supplies are very limited.

Great artistic and architecture features of our Texas State Capitol are featured annually. From the Goddess to the door knobs, the rotunda to the hinges, each year highlights another piece of the Capitol's beauty.

Select souvenir items, including the 2010 Fundraising FLM Calendar, are always available online at www.cafepress.com/frenchlegation .

The French Legation Museum Store is located in the Carriage House at 802 San Marcos Street. Accessible parking and pathways located at 9th Street and Embassy Drive (north-west corner of our property). We are open Tuesdays-Sundays, 1:00 - 5:00pm. We are closed Mondays and will be closed December 24th and 25th.

Christmas Tidings Success!

Christmas Tidings 2009 was a great success. Despite the freezing weather and "wintry mix," more than one hundred visitors came through the French Legation Museum last weekend. Visitors enjoyed a lovely open house on Friday night and visits with Pere Noel on Saturday morning.

Remember that the home will remain decorated for the holidays until December 31.

Santa's on his way... Pere Noel's Visit on Saturday 12/5, 9-11am

Pere Noel, known in Texas as "Santa," will be stopping by the French Legation Museum on Saturday morning! There is no charge to visit Santa. Professional photography will be available from SMB Photography (please bring the checkbook as credit cards can't be processed for this event). We ask that you refrain from snapping amateur photos during sessions with Pere Noel.

Please check in at the Carriage House... activities will be provided in the heated loft while children wait to see Santa.

Christmas Open House Friday Night 12/4, 6-8pm

Christmas Tidings at the French Legation Museum will be held this Friday night. We are excited to see SNOW in Austin's forcast for the event. Afterall, what could be more festive than a candlight open house at the decorated historic home of the French Legation in the snow???

Dress warmly and be ready to be filled with the spirit of the season... don't worry, there will be plenty of hot cocoa to go around.

This event will be held from 6:00 - 8:00 pm and is FREE, as our gift to the community. The Museum Store will be open late!!!

Special events include:
1. Live Music by local favorite Rachel Lynn
2. Historic Home Open House
3. Displays of traditional French Catholic Christmas practices
4. Displays of beautiful American Victorian Christmas practices

We hope you'll bring the whole family out for this fun and festive event. What a great way to talk to your children about the true meaning of Christmas... not toys, iPods, or selfishness, but family togetherness and community fellowship.

Our donation box will be out, so be sure to bring a dollar for the kids to contribute to this special historic site!
